Product Details

While flat tawas get all the attention for dosas, the concave tawa is what every roti lover actually needs and the Tramontina Velo Forged Concave Tawa 26cm is one of the best concave tawas available for making rotis that puff beautifully and phulkas that cook the traditional way.

The concave shape is specifically designed for roti and phulka making the slight curve allows the bread to come away from the surface at the edges while the centre cooks, which is what creates the steam pocket that makes a roti puff.
Forged from a single piece of aluminium under high pressure, this tawa has the same structural integrity and heat consistency as the flat Velo variant just shaped for a different cooking purpose.
The high-quality PFOA-free non-stick surface means rotis lift cleanly and easily without tearing you use minimal ghee and the surface stays clean enough that a quick wipe between rotis is all that is needed.
At 26cm it is the ideal roti tawa diameter fits a standard gas burner perfectly, heats the right amount of surface for a normal-sized roti, and stores easily without taking up excessive shelf space.
The Sea finish exterior gives it the same premium aesthetic as the flat variant a tawa that looks as good as the rotis and phulkas it produces.

If roti is your staple and you want a dedicated, well-made concave tawa that makes the cooking process easier and the results more consistent, the Tramontina Velo Concave is an excellent choice.

Features

The Tramontina Velo Concave 26cm is designed around one cooking task and one cooking task only making perfect rotis and phulkas and every design decision reflects that singular focus.

Concave Shape for Roti Making The slight bowl shape encourages rotis to puff by allowing the edges to lift slightly while the centre cooks the traditional geometry of a proper roti tawa.
Forged Aluminium Construction Single-piece forged aluminium is stronger, denser, and more warp-resistant than pressed or cast alternatives the base stays true and flat-to-curved for years.
26cm Ideal Roti Diameter Perfectly sized for standard Indian rotis fits a medium burner well, heats efficiently, and is the size most Indian cooks are most comfortable working with.
PFOA-Free Non-Stick Surface Rotis lift cleanly without sticking, needing only a minimal brush of ghee convenient for daily use and safe for the whole family.
Consistent Heat Across the Surface The forged aluminium base conducts heat evenly from the centre to the curved edges no part of the roti cooks faster or slower than another.
Gas and Electric Compatible Designed to work well on gas flames and electric coil stoves the primary cooking setups in most Indian households.
Warp-Resistant Construction The forged base maintains its concave shape even with repeated heating and cooling cycles crucial for a tawa used twice or three times a day.
Sea Finish Exterior Matching aesthetic to the flat Velo variant a premium coloured exterior that looks attractive on any stovetop.
Ergonomic Handle Well-balanced handle design for comfortable one-hand control when flipping rotis or moving the tawa between the stove and the flame.

Care Instructions

The Velo Concave Tawa needs the same care as the flat variant gentle cleaning, proper drying, and a few good habits that will keep the non-stick coating and Sea finish looking pristine.

Hand Wash After Every Use Warm water, mild soap, soft sponge done in under a minute for a 26cm tawa. The Sea finish exterior and non-stick coating are both best maintained away from dishwashers.
Cool Before Washing Forged aluminium holds heat for longer than expected. Give the tawa five minutes to cool before washing to avoid thermal stress.
Clean the Concave Surface Gently The curved interior can accumulate ghee residue at the lowest point over time. Use a soft cloth in a circular motion to clean the curve thoroughly without scraping.
Use Wooden or Silicone Spatulas The non-stick coating on the Velo Concave is designed for gentle tools wooden or silicone spatulas preserve the coating far longer than any metal utensil.
Avoid High Flame on Empty Tawa Preheat on medium flame for 60 seconds before adding ghee and then the roti. Never heat an empty non-stick tawa on high flame.
Maintain the Sea Finish Exterior Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth after every use grease splatter from cooking can build up on the coloured exterior and become harder to remove if left.
Store With Care The concave shape can become a resting place for other small items in storage, putting weight on the non-stick surface. Store it vertically or with the cooking surface facing up.
Oil Condition Monthly Rub a small amount of oil into the non-stick surface and heat gently once a month this refreshes the coating and extends its effective life noticeably.
