Care Instructions

The same simple cast iron care routine as all Meyer cast iron pieces a consistent two-minute habit after every use keeps the cooking surface improving and the tawa rust-free for decades.

Hot Water Rinse and Brush Rinse with hot water and use a stiff-bristled brush to remove any food residue. Avoid soap it strips the natural seasoning.
Stove Dry Immediately After rinsing, dry on a low flame for two to three minutes. At 26 or 28cm the tawa dries faster than larger cast iron pieces this step is quick and essential.
Warm Oil Application After Drying While still warm, apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the surface with a paper towel. This brief step is what keeps the seasoning building with every single use.
Use Medium Flame for Daily Cooking Cast iron at this size heats up relatively quickly for cast iron medium flame is sufficient for most cooking and prevents the surface from overheating unnecessarily.
Clean the Handle Area Too Do not neglect the handle and the underside when oiling. Cast iron rust can start anywhere there is moisture and insufficient oil protection.
Handle with Care on Induction On induction cooktops, cast iron heats faster than on gas reduce the power setting slightly compared to what you would use for aluminium to prevent overheating the surface.
Tackle Rust Immediately if It Appears Scrub, wash once with soap, stove dry, and re-season in one session. Cast iron rust looks alarming but is entirely reversible at any stage.
Store Oiled and Dry A light oil coating on the surface and dry storage conditions are the only things needed to keep this tawa in perfect condition between uses.
